Ever wondered what ate the reasons people lie? What inspire and provoke them to lie? Why do people lie for no reason? Many analysts of human behavior have different causes. Let’s try to understand why people lie, in terms of psychology.

If you look around, you’ll find lot of people who lie several times during the day. In fact, it is said that almost all people on this planet are at one or another point of view of their lives. It is believed that the circumstances prevailing at a certain point, causes people to lie. In most cases, people lie to protect their personal interests. However, there are people who lie, to deceive others, while some others are simply addicted to lying. There are many who lie in order to avoid any criticism of the society.
There are no people who do not lie. Lie is such an ordinary and familiar phenomenon that many people lie with no wonder, not tormented by remorse.
Here are the most common reasons for lying, the seven reasons people lie:

1. Lie as a component of psychological protection of the individual.

The reasons may be fear (when a person for any reason, is afraid to tell the truth) and the desire to avoid emotionally unpleasant situation, if to tell the truth.

2. Lie as a bad habit.

When a person does something for the first time, people around him express approval or disapproval for his action. And if a person lies for the first time and this is approved by the loved ones, as a consequence he gets a pleasant emotional experience, and the person learns a nice lesson.

3. Lie as a manifestation of character accentuation.

There are some types of character, for which lie becomes exponential (to attract attention or to justify their behavior)

4. Lie as a national-psychological and cultural feature of certain ethnic groups.

Some researchers suggest that a lie is a national trait of individual nations.

5. Lie as a manifestation of the imperfection of the individual.

Man seeks to assign themselves those qualities and merits which does not have, in order to impress.

6. Lie as a tool to achieve certain financial goals.

For example, attributing yourself other people’s achievements at work, school.

7. Lie as a tool of saving time.

Liar does not bother with truthful explanations, although it may take a long time to explain.
There is another reason I did not included in this lists of reasons people lie, because it differ by its nature from the others. So the 8th reason would be:

Lie a symptom of psychological disorder.

According to statistics, in the ordinary intercourse of adults incorrect information consists 25%. When communicating by telephone, the percentage increases to 40%. When communicating via the Internet, letters, e-mail it goes down to 14%. Psychologists attribute this to an unconscious responsibility for what you write, and under what are subscribing, to faith in the printed word.
